An ancient piece of contemporary advice
Came across this fantastic piece of organic wisdom recently…
Act without doing: work without effort.
Think of the small as large and the few as many.
Confront the difficult while it is still easy.
Accomplish the great task by a series of small acts.
–Lao Tze
Has real significance when it comes to thinking about our tasks, and our various communities, organically. But in a rather odd way this is exactly what the underground Chinese church seems to have lived out over the last 60 years.

Lao tze (tzu?) has some crackers - here’s another that fits well with that one:
“Be gentle and you can be bold,
be frugal, and you can be liberal;
avoid putting yourself before others
and you can be a leader among men.”
The last line reminds me of a CRM motto… especially used when coaching leaders:
“One thing at a time
There’s always one more thing.”
I like this because it’s manageable… and you really can “move mountains” one shovelful at a time.
Dave B… just thought I’d mention I’ve added some comments to the “middle class bondage” thread… I’m married to someone who’s worked in project management, although in a different field to you. I’d be interested to know how you’re journeying with all of that stuff!
isn’t it just a perfect picture of what we should be doing in our everyday walk with Jesus. if he is really the centre of our being the that quote would be seen in every Believer.
