Scratch and smell (or a sample chapter or two)
The publishers have selected the introduction and chapter one of The Forgotten Ways as a sample of the book for download and distribution. The introduction will not be strange to those who have been engaging on this blog for a while now, but chapter one will be entirely fresh. It tells the story of our involvement at South Melbourne Restoration Community, now called Red. Please remember that this only sets the contexts for the discussion that lies at the heart of the book, namely the phenomenon of Apostolic Genius and its implications for the Church in the West. Enjoy. (Click on link, file should open in new window and/or should download) Hirsch TFW intro + ch.1

you’ve asked me to take a look at your new book, The Forgotten Ways, but when I hit “reply” to your e-mail it is not working, and I tried at Forge at got the same thing.
Wonderful, radical stuff Al.
There is a great line from Shakespeare’s “Julius Caesar” about Casius:
“He thinks too much… such men are dangerous”.
Indeed.
Hi Alan
Looks very interesting. I’ve blogged a little ’bout your books and upcoming visit in Copenhagen here
There’s also the REAL explanation why the early church experienced massive growth.. (warning: danish humour ahead..)
See you in Copenhagen!
Steffen, now I am curious.
I just finished the sample - wow, really good stuff. I’m very intrigued now that’s for sure. We’ve already experienced some of the mistakes and right choices in Revolution (our “missional” community) that you discuss in your story. Maybe since it only took a few months it means we’re on a good track. hehe.
