Be blessed, Alan and all — what a wonderful thing this will be. I will have to join you in the Spirit…since my Yank flesh will have to stay home for this one. Bummer….

Actually, I don’t expect anyone from the Northern Hemisphere Peggy. I am just being hospitable. :-) Its way too far to come from where you are. Mind you a good friend, Phil Graf, is coming from Europe! That’s even further. He’s either amd or a hero!

Hospitality is a good gift to exercise, Alan…something about entertaining angels unawares comes to mind! ;) I will patiently wait until you and Deb bring the show to our shores and somewhere closer to my neck of the woods…but I will still be there with you all in spirit, bro. What an amazing thing you all have going…and what a tremendous legacy you leave so willingly. Well done.

Being one of the “down under people” - which has way too many comic possibilities - it does seem that we export too many of our brightest and fairest… so don’t stay in the USA too long Al…

In the word’s of a world renowned Celtic duo (at least for a song or two!)

    “A’m oan ma way…”

    Seeya there

I’m now stuck on the ‘down under people’ image. Nasty!

  6. David on February 22nd, 2007 10:32 pm

The blog http://emergentno.blogspot.com/ claims that Brian McLaren “denies the necessity of substitutionary atonement, the inerrancy of Scripture, imputation of Christ’s righteousness, literal Hell, and the omniscience of God” ?

Is this true? If so, does it concern anyone?

  7. James Petticrew on February 23rd, 2007 2:32 am

    “A’m oan ma way…” … I can translate !

David in an answer to your question attempts by people such as John McArthur and his like to misrepresent Brian McLaren, create emergent “straw men” to theologically demolish and generally stir up controversy which makes them look learned, interests me little.

C’m on now, Celtic Son, sharing is a GOOD thing! :)

Especially since Alan (a missionary, no less) came to you all from South Africa…and you came to those you’re serving from the UK…I think we’re all just going to have to get used to this whole Glocalization thing from the “BobBob” thread! ;)

I’m from America and we don’t like down under! Of course we love Australians!

“The wounds of a friend…” Peggy I stand corrected - my insecurities are showing… again!

David, I’m not sure what Brian McLaren believes on a whole range of issues, at a whole range of levels … probably be good to ask him rather than ask others! If he is a heretic that would be a concern, please ask him to let us know…

Perhaps your insecurities, Celtic Son, can be shored up some at DS II…which YOU will get to attend ;)

It will, of course, be wonderful to see just what blessings God has in store for you, since you are so generously sharing Alan. Expectancy is such a wondrous state — not knowing what, but certain that it will be…say…eucatastrophic! :)

  12. Celtic Son on February 23rd, 2007 3:44 pm

Thanks for your kind words Peggy…

Eucatastrophic sounds like an interesting concept… I’m literally just about to head off, with my wife and kids, for a weekend away with about 60 others (40 adults and 20 kids) we are sharing this journey with. I am expecting that will be eucatastrophic…

We won’t be having a “Sunday service” where we usually gather. Consequently we have had some debate about whether it is unethical, immoral or just unbiblical to post signs on the school building, that say “if you can read this you obviously forgot to set your rapture alarm… ”

What did Bob Carder say about shock value? ;-)

Your precious group could certainly use a sudden, unlooked for deliverance from the pit of despair and grief…may your time be blessed — and your choice of wording on the school sign about “Sunday service” be gracious ;)

Would love to come Alan but the funds are very dry at the moment. I am hoping the situation will change before it is too late … just have to see.

  15. Jen Waddell (nee.Reed) on February 27th, 2007 10:07 pm

Matt, you can stay with us and use our car if you want. We can only go to the Friday night because of a two weddings on that weekend (Sat in Melbourne, Sunday in Sydney), but you can have our car to travel there.
And if you can, bring Donna and the kids to visit too! :)

  16. Matt Stone on February 28th, 2007 11:51 pm

Have to see, financial issues extend beyond the accomodation you see. And there are other things going down. Not just for us either. Actually I should give you a call about those - you need to know. Forgot you’re not on the prayer chain any more.
