The crazy dude doing this piece is a friend of mine called Ben Catford. Funny boy. But the humor has got missional teeth hasn’t it?
Its got some bite - esp when you see the mess that gets made of the watermelon as he tries to fit in!
hehe! Spit the pips out.
Alan,
This topic was part of our conversation this past week with our faith community. We were talking about how the gospel transforms people on the inside, but many times will leave the outside as it was. Someone began to share the stories of naked natives and how once they meet JeeZuus they will quickly put on clothes to cover up their nakedness. My 19 yr old daughter waded into the middle of this conversation and called that view of the gospel rubish. My 14 yr old reminded all of the stories of Elizabeth Elliot and her daughter…the daughter was shocked her first trip to the US, she could not understand why everyone was covered in cloth. It became quite intense.
I did step in and stop the fist fight;-)
For the gospel message to rebirth cultures, it must first be reborn by message of The Gospel, Jesus.
Alan-
How often do we forget the strength of simple. Sounds like a kids skit but has the punch of a Pauline Epistle.
Tell your mate Ben that I’ve shared this with a bunch of young people throughout So Cal.
