woody allen on meaning and meaninglessness

It is impossible to experience one’s own death objectively and still carry a tune

Eternal nothingness is OK if you’re dressed for it

The universe is merely a fleeting idea in God’s mind–a pretty uncomfortable thought, particularly if you’ve just made a down payment on a house

Reality sucks, but where else can you get a good steak sandwich?

The “good steak sandwich” comment reminded me of the Matrix and the “Judas” eating steak while plotting his treason…where his reality included grey goo ;)

It is impossible to experience one’s own death and do anything, much.

Except in a glorious resurrected state of course.

And now for a tangent related to death… I think the whole “near death experience” reported by so many people who’ve been resusitated throws an interesting light on the whole “is there conscious life between death and the return of Christ and bodily resurrection?

In my opinion a bit of a “how many angels on the head of a pin argument” (there’s life after death… who cares how?) but some people do seem to get all excited about those kinds of arguments.
