i am sorry

Tribe, I am very sorry about the downtimes on the site recently.  I have been very busy traveling (and will be over the next few weeks) and the web hosting company has gone down a few times.  The combo makes for boring ad irritating visits.  I am sorry.

On being sorry.  As an Aussie I am also very sorry for general mistreatment of the aboriginal peoples of Australia–particularly for the ’stolen generation’.  Our new government is hosting a Sorry Day.  About time!

No worries, Mate! The Abbess needs a little down time and appreciates your cooperation. 8)

I left a comment over at Matt Stone’s blog about Sorry Day…so many things to be sorry for, but it is always a good thing to say.

The irony of it all Alan is that I rarely get time to contribute to your fantastic blog these days and when I’ve dropped in these last couple of weeks I’ve got an “exceeded bandwidth” message… I thought it was a comment on the consequences of me over-eating in the Christmas season!

As a late arriving “white” Australian I agree that it’s time that “sorry” was said. The British Empire in general has a lot to be sorry for.

My prayer is that now the indigenous people of Australia are able and enabled to live in freedom from the bondage of the wrongs done to them, and their people, in the past. That they are seen, and equipped to see themselves, as equals rather than as victims. That they rediscover the strengths of their heritage and can grow to fulfil their potential in this great land.

I pray that any compensation is invested to strengthen relationships, build the positives of their culture, remove the negative aspects and release the people of this nation to grow into the people they were created to be…
