shapevine v.2

Yay! Shapevine is coming along nicely.  We have a big announcement to make within a few weeks.  We are going to be partnering with a major league publishing/magazine as their missional-oriented website.  But here is the latest version anyhow.  Check out the podule/e-learning system.

Looks great, Alan. Lance, yourself, and all the others involved have done great work.

Have been into the Shapevine webpage and had an explore. Like the overall setup. The promos for each subject are quite informative.

It had a feel of being similar to the student website I used to use when at the University of Western Sydney in
    2004 doing postgrad work.

Live interactive tutorials were being experimented then within peer-study cells. Also you could access and download library resources from countless other educational institutions and bodies, download and submit assignments,
and communicate on-line with lecturers, watch lectures, access lectures you missed due to other commitments etc.

Great resource Alan. Just yesterday I emailed one of my district leaders about finding some leadership training for myself. Most times in order to utilize our resources,(which have begun to grow), you must be some sort of professional church worker. The challenge I’m facing is that our pastor is terminally ill. The seeds we’ve begun planting have a lot of potential, yet, will wither and die if not cultivated. Especially as we work our way through the old structure.

As a matter of fact, Reggie McNeal is going to be at one of our training seminars in Nov. I can’t go because I do not have a title. In order to get the title I must have a High School Diploma, (I have a GED), take 4-5years of my life going to College just for a simple certification.

Funny thing is, I’ve taken ALOT of technical course on small and mid-buisness mgnt. Anyway thanks! I was getting a little frustrated, this site is cool. I love McNeal.

Oh, Penney, I was disappointed to hear about the discrimination for lack of a title… In the case of adult learners, even Universities acknowledge Prior Learning in lieu of High School diplomas! I hope your church people can catch up with this in order to maximise contribution from such people as yourself. Although I am relatively new to TFW blogosphere, I have appreciated your posts. I also think it’s great that the Shapevine crew are gearing up to offer high-calibre e-courses to equip any interested saints for the work of the ministry, and at such affordable financial outlay. Good on you for pursuing further challenge and development. I hope you find just the right thing to suit your situation. Although I have plenty of academic proof and practical experience the hurdle I am facing is financial… I found a post-grad course at a well-renowned Christian educational institution that TOTALLY suits my situation (it’s Distance Learning friendly) and exactly in line with my direction in ministry BUT wherever am I going to find the USD$30K to do it???!!! I can’t get government fee assistance here in Australia because the course is facilitated in the USA, and I can’t get a scholarship from the USA because I would be studying part time only! I can’t get a second job to pay for it because that would be my actual study time… always asking for miracles, that’s me! Meanwhile Shapevine might prove a way to keep my brain occupied instead of blogging myself silly!

Thank you Lucy! For your encouragement but also sharing your struggle. Sometimes I can’t help wondering if it’s not better this way. We simply get what we need vs. what we think we need. Kind of keep’s you hungry, plus now when I pray I’ll be thinking of you instead of myself. This unity thing is getting to be pretty cool.

Yeah, I’m with ya on the “what we need” and “what we think we need” wavelength… however, maybe the Lord should not have “blessed” me with a love of reading and writing and talking?!!!! Even if we don’t get what we think we need, yes, it is really cool to be connected with Christians from anywhere and everywhere through prayer :)
